Haid, Elaine Kauffman

Beloved wife of the late Alan G. Haid, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2023, at the age of 89, in Hamilton, Ohio. Elaine was born in Michigan, on August 21, 1934, to the late Garrett and Doris Kauffman. She graduated from Winchester-Thurston High School in Pittsburgh, PA, Michigan State University where she was an officer of Sigma Kappa Sorority, and Miami of Ohio (cum laude) in Speech and Hearing Therapy. Caring and committed to the well-being of others, Elaine was a member of Hamilton Junior Women's League, OH, First United Methodist Church of Hamilton, OH, and a 64-year member of P.E.O., a Philanthropic Educational Organization of women, for which she served as President, Vice-president, Treasurer and Recording Secretary in both Ohio (Chapter BR) and Connecticut (Chapter L). Elaine loved sports and was active in skiing, tennis, and swimming while her health permitted. Later, she enjoyed knitting, watercolor, wood carving, and reading. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was devoted to her family. With her husband, a renown waterfowl decoy expert and authority, she ran a high-level Classic Decoys business. Through the years they resided in Hamilton, OH, and Darien, CT, returning back to Hamilton in 2016 to live at Berkeley Square. Elaine is survived by her four sons Stephen (LaDonna), David (Karen), Rusty, and Jim (Laura), seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, at 2pm at First United Methodist Church, 225 Ludlow Street, Hamilton, OH 45011. A reception will follow from 3-5pm at Berkeley Square, Theobald Room, 100 Berkeley Drive, Hamilton, OH 45013.
