Harley (Gibson), Saundra Lee
Saundra Lee (Gibson) Harley, longtime resident of Batavia, Ohio passed peacefully at home on August, 6,2024 with her family by her side. Saundra was born at home on February 12, 1939 to Erald and Gleneva (Lane) Gibson in New Carlisle, Ohio. She was the loving wife to Gerald Gene Harley for 63 years. Saundra dedicated her life to the loving care of her family; Mother to Shawn (Susan) Harley and Lisa (Duke) Duncanson; Grandmother to Rachel (Brian) Greene, Tyler (Charissa) Duncanson and Austin Duncanson; Great Grandmother to Gabriel Duncanson and Amari Duncanson; Sister to Karen Gibson, Beverly (Thomas) Smith, Doug (Cheryl) Gibson and Steve (Mindy) Gibson; Aunt to a host of loving nieces and nephews and Sister-in-Law to Sharon Berman. Saundra will be missed by her special furry feline friend, Willy.
She found great joy in cooking and baking as well as hosting family and friends. For everyone who came to the Harley house it felt like home. Saundra was a musician and shared her gift by serving as an organist/pianist at both the New Carlisle and Cincinnati Church of the Brethren as well as the Batavia First United Methodist Church.
Saundra had a special connection to children, youth and the elderly, with a gift for caring, helping and simply listening. Saundra and Gerald worked together as a team, caring for nieces and nephews, leading the church youth group, starting the Cincinnati Church of the Brethren and managing Gerald's architectural firm. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, counted cross stitching, reading novels and was an avid sports fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, seldom missing their games.
A celebration of Saundra's life will be held at the New Carlisle Church of the Brethren, 219 N. Main St.,on August 30, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am. Luncheon will be provided for all attending immediately following the service.
The family is very grateful for the care provided to Saundra by Hospice of Cincinnati. Memorials in her name may be directed to Hospice of Cincinnati or ALS United Ohio.
