Here's a look at the former St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, located at 239 Wayne Ave. in the Oregon Historic District, decorated for Christmas one last time as a church. The sanctuary was built in 1869 followed by the parish hall in 1954. St. Paul had its final service on December 31, 2017. Parishioners voted to close the church due to declining membership (less than 100 in the congregation) and resources on June 11, 2017. The church property was sold to Weyland Ventures, developers of The Wheelhouse project, located on 210 Wayne Ave. Future redevelopment plans for the property have yet to be announced. In Fall 2018, Pastor Robert E. Miller and the former congregation of St. Paul donated $1.3 million to local charities with proceeds from the sale of the church building and its assets.
