MAP: Where were shootings reported in Dayton in 2016?

Some shootings in Dayton last year were clustered in small pockets of the city, confirming that violent gun crime is not evenly and always randomly distributed across the city urban areas, according to data analyzed by this newspaper.

Use the map below to explore shootings in Dayton reported to the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center, laid over the city's neighborhoods. Click on a marker for information about calls at that location.

This is a map of shooting calls, which are the most serious (priority 1) calls involving people being shot or shot at. Some are later downgraded to non priority calls (a lower level like "shots fired" or incidents not involving guns).

Note: Some locations on the map are hospitals, emergency rooms or other locations where police met with a victim, not necessarily where a shooting happened.
