Former Reds pitcher Jim O’Toole dies

Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer Jim O’Toole has died, the team announced Saturday.

O’Toole, 78, pitched nine seasons for the Reds from 1958-66. He was 94-81 with a 3.59 ERA. He was named to the National League-All-Star Team in 1963 when he was 17-14 with 2.88 ERA. He ended his career in 1967, playing one season with the Chicago White Sox.

O’Toole was a native of Chicago. He pitched at the University of Wisconsin before signing with the Reds in 1957. He was inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame in 1970.
