The Bengals on Tuesday extended a tender offer to center T.J. Johnson, whose contract is set to expire Thursday.

The tender to Johnson, a fourth-year NFL player, makes him a restricted free agent. The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder can negotiate with other teams, but the Bengals can match any offer. If Johnson does not sign with another team, he can sign a one-year tender with the Bengals or a long-term deal.

Johnson was a seventh-round draft pick in 2013. He played in every game last season and started the season finale at left guard. In 2015, he played in 12 games, including the Wild Card playoff game.
