Busy Cole declines Daequan Cook camp invite

Horizon League Player of the Year Norris Cole will not be among the instructors next week at the Daequan Cook Basketball Skills Camp, his agent said Thursday.

Cole, a Dunbar High graduate who excelled at Cleveland State, participated in last month’s NBA predraft camp at Chicago. His agent, Joel Bell, said he recently worked out for the New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks. The NBA draft is June 23.

Albert Powell, Cook’s area business manager and a Dunbar assistant coach, said he should know by this weekend which NBA players will be at the two-day camp at the Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, 1000 N. Keowee St., Dayton. Monday is for grades 3-7 and Tuesday for grades 8-12.

Cost is $20 and registration is from 8 to 9 a.m. each day.
