Votto bangs another home run, sets franchise records

He was the ninth Cincinnati player since 1900 to homer in five straight games, joining Eugenio Suarez, Jay Bruce, Devin Mesoraco, Adam Dunn, Ken Griffey Jr., Johnny Bench, George Crowe and Ted Kluszweski.

Votto also broke the team record for home runs in six games with his eighth clout over that span.

The home run also tied Bench’s club record of six home runs in a four-game series. Bench hit six home runs and drove in 14 against the Cardinals from July 24-27 in 1970.

Votto ranks second among active players with 45 career home runs against the Cubs. That trails only Albert Pujols (57).
