UD women’s basketball to play UConn

The University of Dayton women’s basketball team on Wednesday announced that it had agreed to a three-game contract with 10-time national champ Connecticut.

The Flyers will travel to UConn next season and the teams will play a home-and-away series during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.

“Playing Connecticut is a logical step for us,” UD coach Jim Jabir said. “We want to challenge ourselves and play against the best teams in the country. In the last three or four years, our RPI has been really strong which has helped us in the NCAA Tournament and we want to continue that trend. Hopefully we can represent Dayton and our University well and continue to improve our program.”

The Flyers played the Huskies in the regional finals last season. Dayton led 44-43 at halftime before UConn pulled away for a 91-70 win on its way to a third straight national title.
