College football: Lakota West’s Xavier Peters finds new home

Xavier Peters will continue his college football career closer to home.

The Lakota West graduate announced this week he plans to transfer to Kentucky after one year at Florida State.

A 6-foot-4, 232-pound defensive end who was a four-star prospect in high school, Peters played in two games for the Seminoles, meaning he was able to maintain four years of eligibility thanks to the new NCAA redshirt rule.

He told 247Sports he is transferring to be closer to his young son.

According to the Tallahassee Democrat, he was suspended for the FSU spring game after violating team rules.

Peters, who was a verbal commit to Kentucky at one time, was the No. 6 player in Ohio in the class of 2018 and the No. 3 prospect in the area according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
