Butler made the Final Four in the 2010-11 season, Marshall’s first. He started the next three years and scored 1,373 points in his career. He scored 21 points in two games against Dayton as a junior in 2012-13, the one season Butler spent in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

After college, Marshall spent four seasons playing professional basketball in Japan, Dominican Republic, Spain and Portugal.
In 2017-18, he started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Florida Southwestern State College. He moved to Florida Gulf Coast University last season as a coordinator of video operations. Brett Comer, who's entering his third season as a graduate assistant at Dayton, played at Florida Gulf Coast.
Marshall is a graduate of Flanagan High School in Pembroke Pines, Fla., north of Miami. Grant and Dayton assistant coach Darren Hertz are from the Miami area.
