Dayton women fall on road to Central Michigan in overtime

Micaela Kelly's layup with 15 seconds left in overtime gave Central Michigan an 81-80 victory over the Dayton Flyers on Thursday afternoon in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Dayton (3-2) led 80-77 after a layup by Shakeela Fowler with 31 seconds left. Kelly, who scored 29 points, cut the deficit to 80-79 on two free throws with 24 seconds to go. Dayton's Araion Bradshaw then missed two free throws with 18 seconds left.

Erin Whalen led Dayton with 27 points on 10-of-13 shooting. Jenna Giacone scored 14. The Flyers made 10 of 25 3-pointers (40 percent).

In the fourth quarter, Dayton trailed 71-65 with 6:29 to play and then held the Chippewas scoreless the rest of the quarter. A basket by Whalen tied the game with 1:17 to go, and neither team scored in the final minute.

Dayton returns to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday against No. 4 Connecticut (3-0) at UD Arena.
