Vandalia’s Austin Greaser took control of the 114th Ohio Amateur Championship on Thursday at Columbus Country Club.

Greaser, who will be a sophomore this fall at the University of North Carolina, carded a 6-under-par 66 to take a commanding eight-shot lead into Friday’s final round.

Greaser, who shot 65-69 in the opening two rounds, is at 16-under-par 200 through 54 holes. In three rounds, the 2019 Butler High School graduate has 16 birdies, two eagles and just four bogeys over the xxx par-72 layout.

Stetson University’s Chris Williard is eight shots back after shooting 72 on Thursday.

Wright State’s Bryce Haney (Huber Heights) is third at 6 under after a third-round 70. Miami University’s Cam Solomon carded a third-round 67 and is tied for fourth at 5 under.

Centerville’s Dhaivat Padnya and Springboro’s Josh Gilkison are tied for sixth at 4 under. Padhya plays collegiately at Maryland; Gilkison at Kent State.

Greaser is already having a strong summer. He beat a strong field to win the Northern Kentucky Amateur Championship last month at Lassing Pointe Golf Course.
