LAKOTA WEST HOLDING QUARTERBACK CAMP: Lakota West’s football program will host a Quarterback Camp on July 2-3. Terry Copacia, who has 30 years of high school coaching experience, will direct the camp, which costs $185 and will be at the West practice field. MAGYC GOLF COMPETITION SERIES BEGINS: The Middletown Area Golf for Youth Council will hold three more junior golf competitions this summer. Event dates are July 2, 9 and 16. Cost is $7 for the July 9 event and $12 (includes lunch) for the July 2 and 16 events. Each event is individual stroke play. Boys and girls age groups are as follows: 10 and under, 11-12, 13-14 and 15 and over. Registration is by mail only, and forms can be downloaded at www.magyc.org. MHS YOUTH VOLLEYBALL CAMP JULY 6: The Middletown Youth Girls Volleyball Camp for girls entering grades 2-7 will be held July 6-10 in the high school gym. OXFORD JUNIOR OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT: The Oxford Junior Open Golf Tournament will be held July 27 at Indian Ridge Golf Club. Entry fee is $35, which includes green fees and lunch. WAKEBOARD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS AT JOYCE PARK: The USA Wakeboard National Championships will be held Thursday, July 30, through Saturday, Aug. 1, at Wake Nation Cincinnati, located at 201 Joe Nuxhall Way in Joyce Park. The best wakeboarders in the national will compete to earn a spot on Team USA and the right to represent their country in the Wakeboard World Championships in Korea. FUND-RAISERS TO BENEFIT JOE TOERNER FAMILY: Lindenwald native and Fairfield resident Joe Toerner will be the guest of honor Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Friends of Joe Toerner Benefit at the Oscar Events Center. STRIKE OUT BRAIN CANCER BENEFIT IS AUG. 29: The Nik Scheffler Strike Out Brain Cancer benefit will be held Aug. 29, at the Pier 27 Beer Garden and Grill. Scheffler is a 9-year-old fourth-grader and a pitcher in the Morgan Ross Athletic Association who is battling brain cancer. The benefit will begin at 2 p.m., and families are welcome, although it will be 21 and older after dark. The benefit will include a cornhole tournament, food, live music, family activities, a silent auction and raffles. Volunteers and donations are still needed.
