Xenia, led by Shane Eagle’s 22 points, defeated Fairborn 70-65 in overtime Friday, Dec. 18. The Buccaneers defeated Springfield in two overtimes earlier in the week.
Fairborn, which got 25 points from Kendrick Williams, recovered from a 12-point deficit at halftime to push the game to overtime. Xenia won thanks to timely free-throw shooting — the Buccaneers were 5-of-6 from the line in the final quarter.
“They broke us down and did a great job of moving the ball,” Anderson said. “They kept chipping away, but we got the win.”
The win was big for Xenia (2-3, 1-1 Greater Western Ohio Conference). A loss could have dropped Xenia two games back in the GWOC South Division.
“To be able to pull this out and get even in the league is huge,” Anderson said.
