Tapes from around the country were requested and one was selected for ESPN commentator Randy Pedersen to critique on air. Cooper, a Poelking Classic League bowler, will appear in a coaching segment hosted by Pedersen during the PBA Shark Presented by Xtra Frame Championship on Dec. 17.
“I guess Randy thought I needed some help,” Cooper said, smiling.
With 13 PBA titles to his credit, Pedersen, a PBA Hall of Famer, has the credentials to give bowling advice.
Cooper’s problem had to do with his timing.
“I’ve had some really bad timing problems,” he said. “And my timing has gotten worse as I’ve gotten older.”
The Dayton resident has bowled on and off for the past 54 years, starting when he was 13.
Pedersen noticed a slight hesitation on Cooper’s video submission.
“He told me a couple of things I’ll be trying this weekend,” Cooper said.
The championship and Pedersen’s coaching tip will air Dec. 17 at 2 p.m.
