Middletown's Coffing still alive on ‘Big Break’

Middletown native survives elimination challenge, is one of eight players remaining.

Carling Coffing had to work a bit harder in the third episode of the The Golf Channel’s “Big Break Sandals Resorts” reality show than she did in the second.

But the end result was the same.

The 24-year-old Middletown native survived another week at Sandals Emerald Bay in Great Exuma, Bahamas.

After earning early immunity and spending most of the second episode poolside, Coffing was one of five players fighting to stay on the show in the elimination challenge in the third episode, which aired Monday, July 5.

Coffing came up big, knocking her shot to within 3 feet, 7 inches from the first of two locations to earn immunity and move on to next week’s show. Maiya Tanaka was the third contestant eliminated.

Coffing is one of eight players remaining. The winner will receive invitations to compete in the 2010 Lorena Ochoa Invitational on the LPGA Tour and to the 2010 Omega Dubai Ladies Masters on the Ladies European Tour, as well as a $10,000 endorsement contract, a $10,000 shopping spree at Dick’s Sporting Goods and free entry to Q School, as well as having entry fees paid for all of the 2010 Duramed FUTURES Tour events.
