We are excited to welcome Paul Ivkovich to the Dayton Flyer basketball program. His philosophy of high-intensity training will be a perfect fit for our system and what we believe to be the most effective way to train basketball players at an elite level, said UD head Coach Archie Miller. We are committed to the total development of our student-athletes and Paul will play a critical role in the daily process of improvement that each will make. He is a high-energy person who takes great pride in executing his role.
Ivkovich has worked in the strength and conditioning field for more than eight years and has played an integral role in the development of at least 25 student-athletes who have gone on to compete at the professional level (NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB and NHL).
I am very excited to come to Dayton for many reasons, but none more important than having the opportunity to work with the men's and women's basketball programs that both have a history of success, said Ivkovich. My objective, first and foremost, is to keep the athletes healthy and limit the potential for injury on the court, he added. Secondly, I will provide a program that values consistency, progression, attention to detail, accountability and an overall commitment from each and every one of our athletes to the player development process.
Ivkovich comes to Dayton after serving as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for more than 150 student-athletes participating in the 10 Olympic sports at Marshall University.
Prior to Marshall he spent two seasons as the Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning at Central Michigan University. He was part of the mens basketball staff that captured the 2008-09 and 2009-10 MAC West Division Championships. He was also a staff member of Chippewa football squad that won the 2009 MAC Championship and 2010 GMAC Bowl Championship.
Ivkovich spent 2007-08 at New Mexico State where he served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Aggies' men's and women's basketball teams.
Ivkovich worked for three years at the University of Cincinnati (2004-2007). He spent two years as an intern before being named assistant strength coach in 2006 and was a staff member of the 2007 International Bowl Championship Football Team. He also spent time as an instructor at the Mark Dantonio Football Camp.
A 2004 graduate of Michigan State, Ivkovich spent his senior year as a student intern. He assisted training of MSU's football, mens basketball, women's basketball and hockey teams. Ivkovich earned a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology from MSU in 2004.
