Reds cap sweep of Pirates with 9-2 rout

Rookie left-hander Amir Garrett had another strong start and the Reds pounded out 15 hits Wednesday night to cap a three-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates, 9-2.

Garrett (2-0) allowed just two runs in 6.2 innings, striking out five while walking none.

Eugenio Suarez went 3-for-4 with three RBI and Jose Peraza and Tucker Barnhart added three hits apiece for the Reds (7-2).

Cincinnati, the first-place team in the NL Central, returns home Thursday night to host the Brewers.
