The Reds claimed first baseman/corner outfielder D.J. Peterson from the White Sox. Peterson won’t report to the major league team, but he presents some upside.
Once a heralded prospect in the Mariners system, Peterson has since lost his luster. Cincinnati is taking a no-risk, medium-reward wager that he can show some of the promise he had in the minors.
