Former Bengals TE C.J. Uzomah intends to sign a three-year, $24 million deal with the New York Jets, per sources.

A fifth-round draft pick by Cincinnati in 2015, Uzomah was coming off a career year catching 49 passes for 493 yards and five touchdowns, but as well as he played with Joe Burrow, the money he was able to get in New York might have been a stretch for a Bengals team with bigger needs. There are other tight ends on the market that will cost about the same or slightly more but that have topped 500 yards receiving.
Uzomah was a vocal, emotional leader for the Bengals en route to their Super Bowl appearance. He played in the championship game on a sprained MCL that the team said just would require rest to heal.
