HS Roundup 2/5: Spears, Ellis lead Stivers boys in OT victory

Doug Spears hit a turnaround jumper at the buzzer to give host Stivers a 67-65 overtime win versus Meadowdale in boys basketball action on Tuesday.

Spears finished with 14 points, Trevon Ellis led with 20, Da’Juan Allen added 11 and Jordan Williams 10 for Stivers.

William Hill had 17 points for Meadowdale.

Stivers improved to 13-3 and will play Dunbar Friday for a chance to secure at least a share of the City League title.

Boys Basketball

Belmont 75, Ponitz 63: Kendall Moore poured in 32 points 12 for Belmont. Darrion Mosley led Ponitz with 16 points.

Brookville 49, Bellbrook 30: Jake Gudorf scored 13 points, Manny Willis added 12 and Brookville improved to 16-2 and 8-2 in conference play.

Dayton Christian 46, Jefferson 33: Anton Webb had 24 points with 10 rebounds and Dayton Christian closed the game on a 14-2 run to pull away for the win.

Edgewood 56, Talawanda 38: Gabe Allen led the way with 17 points and Isaiah Gambrell added 13 as Edgewood took control early. David Kraushar chipped in 18 points for Talawanda.

Elder 61, Springboro 52: Michael Berner scored 15 points and William Yates added 11 but Elder pulled away from ‘Boro in the final quarter.

Fairbanks 61, West Liberty-Salem 44: Holden Nease scored 15 points and Jack Eggleston 11 in a losing effort for WLS.

Fort Loramie 56, Bethel 27: Fort Loramie opened the game on an 8-0 run and had ten players score in the victory.

Greenon 59, Springfield Shawnee 57: Cade Rice recorded 15 points, Luke Downing added 12 and Andrew Conover 10 to help Greenon earn the slim victory. Isaac Siemon scored 20 points for Shawnee.

Hamilton 73, Colerain 51: D’Marco Howard finished with 18 points, Jaylen Robinson added 15 and Trey Robinson 11 points with 16 rebounds to lead Hamilton.

La Salle 57, Chaminade Julienne 48: Milton Gage dropped in his 1,000th career point but CJ was upset from a second-half surge by La Salle.

Lakota East 64, Middletown 54: Bash Wieland scored 17 points and Will Johnston 16 to lead four players in double-digit scoring for Lakota East. Kei’aunte Powell had 17 points for Middletown.

Lebanon 73, Northmont 65: Zach Huffman poured in 32 points and Sammy Stotts chipped in 12 for Lebanon, which pulled away from a tie game entering the final quarter.

Legacy Christian 101, Middletown Christian 38: Erik Uszynski scored 28 points, Jon Riddle added a season-high 19 and Will Hess a season-high 17 to help Legacy improve to 11-1 in conference play. C.J. Money paced Middletown Christian with 21 points.

Madison 48, Preble Shawnee 42: Grant Whisman finished with 21 points and Madison moved to 10-0 in conference play, securing at least a share of the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye division title.

Mechanicsburg 44, Triad 39: Chris Taylor netted 17 points and Logan Hurst added 10 to lead ‘Burg. Dillon Nott led Triad with 11 points.

Miamisburg 60, Stebbins 42: Duncan Hall netted 16 of his 21 points in the second half, Brett Hensley added 14 and Miamisburg drained 10 three-pointers in the win. Jalen Tolbert had 11 points for Stebbins.

Mississinawa Valley 62, Tri-County North 55: Trent Collins and D.J. Howell combined for 37 points to lead Mississinawa.

National Trail 63, Newton 38: Hunter Michael paced National Trail with a career-high 18 points and Zach Woodall tacked on 13. Kleyson Wehrley totaled 14 points for Newton.

Northridge 72, Milton-Union 48: Twon Hines totaled 24 points and Charles Drewery tacked on 14 for Northridge.

Spencerville 48, New Bremen 44: Kelly Naylor scored 19 points but New Bremen’s rally effort fell short.

Troy Christian 44, Miami Valley 30: Connor Peters and Connor Case put up 11 points apiece to pace Troy Christian.

Girls Basketball

Dixie 41, Miami Valley 33: McKinlee Ruppert tallied 15 points to lead Dixie.

Dunbar 41, Whitehall 39: Rickera McCluskey paced Dunbar with 12 points and Mone’t Allen added 10.
