Three women named to 2010 Bowling Hall

MIDDLETOWN — Becky Hoffer, Tuesday Nisewander and Sheila McCormick have been named the Middletown Bowling Hall of Fame women’s inductees for 2010.

Hoffer has been selected as the 2010 Star of Today, Nisewander is the 2010 Star of Yesteryear and McCormick is the selection for 30-plus years of Meritorious Service.

With first-place finishes in the Miami Valley 700 tourney, the women’s 600 singles tourney and the Middletown actual tournament, Hoffer cemented her place as one of the area’s top women’s bowlers.

She also paired with Keisha Burns in 2008 and won the Middletown doubles tournament. In 2007, Hoffer won the Middletown women’s open tournament. A 19-year bowler, Hoffer’s highest average has been a 200, her highest game has been a 288 and her high series is a 767.

Nisewander has bowled for 27 years. Her past achievements include being a part of the Mixed City Doubles title in 2003, setting the women’s city doubles record score (1,241) in 1998 and the team record (3,203) in 1999. Nisewander was the ABT champion twice, and has placed at several state and state 600 bowling events.

Nisewander, a former Middletown 600 Club handicap division winner, also served a two-year stint as a Women’s International Bowling Congress (WIBC) board member.

A veteran of 30 years of bowling, McCormick has been a member of the Middletown Women’s Bowling Association (WBA) and the current United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Miami Valley Association for more than 10 years. She’s been a Middletown representative at the state convention for the past nine years. McCormick is known as a dedicated league member who promotes the sport of bowling in every capacity. She’s currently a secretary treasurer of Monday and Wednesday Night leagues and was instrumental in starting up a local bowling website; miamivalleyusbc.com.

McCormick, Hoffer and Nisewander will join men’s inductees Randy Berger, Mike Glacken and Bill Barton in the 2010 Middletown Hall of Fame class. The annual banquet will be held Saturday at the Forest Hills Country Club in Middletown.
