Joey Votto hits milestone in Cincinnati Reds' loss to San Diego Padres

Joey Votto became the fifth player to record 1,000 career RBIs in a Cincinnati Reds uniform on Wednesday.

Votto hit a solo home run in the third inning to reach the milestone. The Reds lost 7-5 to the San Diego Padres in six innings. The game was shortened by rain.

Votto joined Johnny Bench (1,376 RBIs), Tony Perez (1,192), Pete Rose (1,036) and Frank Robinson (1,009) on the list of Reds with 1,000 RBIs.

Votto’s 1,000th RBI came in his 15th season and 1,821st game. He ranks seventh among active players in career RBIs, and he’s the 294th player to reach 1,000. Votto ranks second behind Larry Walker (1,311) for RBIs by a Canadian.
