About Wright State: The Raiders concluded their preseason preparations last week with an 86-51 victory over Notre Dame College at home. Bill Wampler led the Raiders with 18 points, Cole Gentry 13 and Skyelar Potter 11. WSU shot 47 percent overall from the field and 34 percent from 3-point range while holding the Falcons to just 33 percent from the field and just three threes. … The Raiders won a record 25 games last season as they advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007. Preseason publications think a lot of the Raiders again. At least five of them picked the Raiders to win the Horizon League. The official league poll also picked the Raiders to win the league. … Wednesday's game and the Nov. 17 home game vs. North Florida are part of the Cancun Challenge. The Raiders will travel to Cancun, Mexico, for their final two games in the event. They face Penn State on Nov. 20 and either Bradley or SMU on Nov. 21. … The first 1,000 fans will receive a replica of the NCAA banner that will be lowered from the rafters before the game.
About Western Carolina: Mark Prosser takes over for the late Larry Hunter. Prosser, the son of former Xavier and Wake Forest coach Skip Prosser, has been an assistant coach for 15 seasons at four schools. Prosser spent the past six seasons at Winthrop. … Prosser inherits eight players and welcomes six newcomers, including freshman Kameron Gibson from Cincinnati Walnut Hills. Gibson and junior transfer Carlos Dotson are expected to start in their WCU debuts. Halvorsen and Gosselin are the only returning starters. … The Catamounts have been picked to finish ninth in the Southern Conference following a 12-16, 8-10 mark last season.
