Wright State hit 15 of 29 shots in the first half for 52 percent, including five of 11 from three-point range, while Ohio made just nine of 37 attempts for 24 percent.
A Thomas steal and layup put the Raiders up 61-45 with 7:44 to play, but the Bobcats followed with a 12-2 run to cut the deficit to 63-57 at the 1:36 mark.
Boyd, however, connected on a three from the right corner on WSU's next possession and the Raiders wrapped up the contest by scoring the final seven points overall, the final four on foul shots by Maria Bennett and Fox.
Wright State continued its hot shooting the final 20 minutes, making 13 of 24 shots to finish the game at 53 percent, including 10 of 27 from behind the arc for 42 percent, compared to 32 percent for Ohio, who was just five of 21 from three.
The Raiders had four players score in double figures, led by Thomas with 19 and Boyd's 18 off the bench. Bennett added 13 and Fox chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Tenishia Benson paced Ohio (2-6) with a near triple-double of 16 points, nine rebounds and nine steals while Ashley Fowler had 14.
All four of WSU's wins this season have come on the road and it is the first time that the Raiders have won four nonleague road games in a season since the program won five in its first season in Division I during the 1987-88 campaign, when the Raiders were an independent. The three consecutive road wins (Delaware State, Akron and Ohio) is a first since the 1983-84 campaign.
Wright State (4-3) continues the five-game road swing on Saturday with a visit to Farmville, Virginia, to take on the Longwood Lancers in a 2:00 contest.
