Clouds, winds and temps to decrease as day goes on; clear and cold tonight

The high temperature in the upper 40s to low 50s for today will come in the morning before temperatures fall to around 37 degrees by late afternoon once a cold front moves into the region, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

A brief period of gusty winds between 40 and 50 mph occurred this morning.

Clouds will gradually clear and winds will decrease as the day goes on. Saturday night will be mostly clear and cold, with the low temperature around 20 degrees.

Sunday will be mostly sunny with a high near 42 degrees. Skies remain clear Sunday night, which will have an overnight low around 24 degrees.

The new work week will start warmer with a high near 47 degrees for Monday under partly sunny skies. There is a slight chance of rain after 1 p.m., but rain is likely Monday night.

There will be a chance of rain for Tuesday and Wednesday. The temperature is expected to reach near 52 degrees under cloudy conditions for both days.

Snow is possible for Thursday and Friday as the temperature drops, according to the NWS.
