Mild, breezy weather today, hotter temperatures, thunderstorms possible later this week

After cold temperatures overnight, today is expected to be warm and sunny, the National Weather Service in Wilmington reported. The area may see some windy weather and thunderstorms tomorrow and Wednesday.

Overnight, temperatures dropped into the low and middle 30s, the NWS reported. Temperatures will warm up today and grow hotter through the week, with temperatures reaching nearly 80 degrees on Wednesday.

Today will be mild and breezy, with temperatures ranging between 72 degrees and 53 degrees, the NWS said. Winds today may reach up to 11 mph.

Tomorrow will likely be windy and the area will see higher temperatures, the NWS said. Highs on Tuesday could reach up to 78 degrees, though temperatures may drop to the lower 60s overnight. Wind speeds may reach up to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph, the NWS said.

On Wednesday, the area may see some rain, with thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. The skies are expected to be cloudy during the day, the NWS said. More thunderstorms are possible in the evening, particularly after 8 p.m., the NWS said.
