Highs could break 120-year old record this week; Rain expected on Halloween

Unseasonably warm weather is expected today and Wednesday, with temperatures about 20 degrees higher than usual for this time of year.

The high for today reached 78 degrees in Dayton and Cincinnati, and 79 degrees in Columbus, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. The record for today is 82 degrees, set in 1900.

Today also is windy, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tonight will be partly cloudy and cool with continuing breezy winds. The overnight low will be around 59 degrees.

Wednesday will be sunny, breezy and hot, with the high again around 80 degrees. The record high is 81 degrees, set in 1901 and 1927, according to NWS data.

Overnight, winds and clouds will increase, for mostly cloudy skies and gusts as high as 30 mph before dawn on Thursday. The overnight low will be around 64 degrees.

Halloween will be warm, breezy and wet, with a chance of showers in the morning, then showers and a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evening. The high will be around 77 degrees.

After sunset, winds, clouds and precipitation chances are expected to fall, for mostly clear skies before dawn on Friday. Lows will be around 44 degrees.
