Lower temperatures today with wind gusts up to 40 mph; Snow possible tomorrow

Rain should taper off Monday morning as strong winds and lower temperatures move into the area.

Wind gusts of up to 40 mph as possible today, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Temperatures will drop into the 30s this afternoon with wind chills in the 20s.

Cloudy skies also are expected for Monday.

Overnight, temperatures will fall into the teens and 20s. On Tuesday, highs will reach the low 30s.

A chance for light snow is possible Tuesday night, with less than an inch of accumulation expected, according to NWS.

Wednesday will be dry with high temperatures slightly below normal around the mid-30s.

The chance for rain returns Thursday and Thursday evening, according to NWS. Temperatures will rise a little and hit the mid-40s to low 50s.
