Hot, humid with showers, storms possible

In addition to the potential for thunderstorms today, heat index values will be around 100 degrees in many spots this afternoon.

The high temperature will be in the mid-90s. The high temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to the evening, the NWS advises.

There is a chance of showers and storms, mainly after 2 p.m. A few strong/severe storms will be possible this afternoon into early evening and then again late tonight, with damaging wind the main threat. The best chances for severe storms will be along and north of Interstate 70.

Overnight lows will be around 74 degrees.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could product heavy rainfall. The high is expected near 89 degrees with a heat index near 100 degrees.

Showers will continue Tuesday night, with possibly a storm, mainly before 2 a.m., followed by a chance of showers and storms. The overnight low will be around 70 degrees.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and not as hot with a high near 82 degrees. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, some of which could produce heavy rainfall.

Wednesday night will be mostly cloudy but cool with a low around 61 degrees.

Skies will be mostly sunny Thursday with a high near 79 degrees.
