Bitterly cold today but much warmer into next week

Today will be bitterly cold, but gusty southwest winds will bring much warmer air for the weekend and into next week.

Skies will be partly sunny today with a high temperature around 24 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. However, light winds will make it feel in the low teens.

Tonight will be partly cloudy with an overnight low around 11 degrees.

On Saturday, it will be breezy and a little warmer, with highs in the low 40s and clouds increasing in the afternoon.

After dark, breezy winds will continue and skies will be mostly cloudy. Temperatures aren’t expected to fall much, falling to a low around 34 degrees.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy, windy and warmer, with gusts of 35 to 40 mph possible and highs around 48 degrees.

Winds and clouds will gradually decrease Sunday, with lows dipping to around 28 degrees.

Monday will be partly sunny with temperatures in the mid- to upper 40s.
