Warm, rainy today; Thunderstorms to arrive in evening, overnight

It will be warm and rainy today, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Showers will be likely to begin with, but rain chances will dip in the middle of the day before rising again joined with a chance of thunderstorms.

Highs will be around 71 degrees.

After dark falls, showers and thunderstorms will be likely. The NWS said the storms will be weakening as they pass into our area, but there will be a chance for more severe weather west of Interstate 75.

Lows will be around 58 degrees.

The showers and storms will continue through the night, with chances falling around dawn on Sunday and trailing off during the day.

As the rain chances fall on Sunday, clouds will also decrease for partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. It will be breezy but warm, with a high around 75 degrees.

Clouds will continue to gradually decrease Sunday night as temperatures fall to around 50 degrees.

Monday will be mostly sunny and warm, with a high around 73 degrees. Clouds will start to build up in the evening ahead of a chance of rain after midnight.

It will be a mostly cloudy night, with lows around 57 degrees.

The NWS warned that there is a potential for severe weather on Tuesday, with another round of storms bringing damaging winds.
