Details: Marya Spring Cordes stages Wright State University’s emotionally compelling, enjoyably intimate and attractively designed production of Henrik Ibsen’s classic drama adapted by Frank McGuiness. Julia Daigh is bubbly and dynamic as Norwegian housewife Nora Helmer, deemed a “prized possession” by her overbearing husband Torvald (gleefully unnerving Ben Smallwood). As Nora defiantly steps into her newfound strength and independence with an incredible slam, her empowering journey is heightened here by terrific portrayals from John Cuozzo (Nils Krogstad) and Casey Merren (Kristine Lindek) as former lovers causing cracks within the Helmer household. Next weekend WSU presents the area premiere of “A Doll’s House, Part 2,” centered on Nora’s problematic return to those she left behind.
