Dayton’s first cat cafe opens TODAY

Gem City Catfe will celebrate its grand opening on Tuesday.

The coffee shop and cat adoption center, located at 513 E. Fifth St. in St. Anne's Hill neighborhood, will open on Tuesday. Customers can book a reservation online to cuddle cats. Only 12 guests are allowed in the lounge at one time to make sure it isn't too stressful for the cats, according to the cafe owners.

Guests can also just stop by for a coffee, tea or items from the bakery. The cafe will also feature an art gallery upstairs, with work from local artist Amy Kollar Anderson on display for the grand opening.
