Dayton jobless rate falls slightly

Dayton’s unemployment rate fell slightly from October to November, from 5.6 to 5.3 percent, according to state figures released Tuesday. In November 2015, the rate was 5.6 percent.

Montgomery County’s numbers also fell, from 4.7 percent in October to 4.4 percent last month, state data showed. Last year, the November rate was also 4.7 percent.

In Kettering, the jobless rate last month was 3.7 percent, down slightly from 3.9 percent and down from 4.1 percent in November 2015.

In Springfield, the unemployment rate in November was 5.4 percent, the same as October’s rate. Last November, it was 5.3 percent.

Clark County has a whole also had an unchanged monthly jobless rate, 4.7 percent. Last November, that rate was 4.9 percent.

Butler County’s rate last month was 4 percent, down slightly from 4.2 percent in October, while the city of Hamilton saw a 4.4 percent jobless rate in November, down slightly from 4.5 percent in October.

In Warren County, the rate last month was 3.7 percent, another slight drop from 3.9 percent in October.

Greene and Miami counties both saw 3.9 percent jobless rates last month, both down from 4.1 percent in October.

Last week, the state of Ohio said its unemployment rate remained lodged at 4.9 percent in November, still slightly above the national rate, unchanged from October.

Ohio’s non-agricultural wage and salary employment increased 9,100 last month, from a revised 5,497,300 in October to 5,506,400 in November, remaining at a 4.9 percent rate for November.

The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in November was 278,000, down 2,000 from 280,000 in October, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said.

Meanwhile, the number of unemployed across Ohio has increased by 9,000 over the past year from 269,000.
