McGohan Brabender sells health management system

McGohan Brabender, a Dayton-based independent employee benefits broker, has sold its Web-based Wellvibe health management system to data analytics firm, Allostatix, for an undisclosed amount, the companies announced Tuesday.

Allostatix, a small firm that recently moved to Kettering from the Cincinnati area, specializes in health care and has created a risk-prediction tool that can identify individuals who are likely to suffer from an adverse health event in three to five years with nearly 90 percent accuracy, the companies said in a press release.

Wellvibe uses such risk assessments to customize wellness plans for members that are clinically shown to reduce or even reverse the risk, helping to curb insurance costs for businesses and encourage healthier lifestyles for their employees.

Bringing Wellvibe and Allostatix together was a “perfect marriage,” according to Allostatix CEO Gordon Horwitz: “We can now deliver life-changing information to the employees, and relay that aggregate information to the employers to allow them to make smarter and more effective company decisions.”

Mike Suttman, president of McGohan Brabender, described the merger as natural progression.

“The success of our Wellvibe health management platform grew to the point where it needed a dedicated, 24/7 operation to tap into its full potential,” Suttman said. “We believe Allostatix has the tools, the knowledge and the expertise to transform the health and wellness industry.”
