The parent company of clothing retailers Ann Taylor and Lane Bryant will close up to 667 locations in the next two years.
Acena Retail Group Inc., which operates Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant, Loft, Dressbarn, Catherines and Justice, announced it will close the locations due to a shift in consumer habits. As of late April, the company has approximately 4,850 locations. LEARN MORE
3. Children's retailer Gymboree files for bankruptcy, will close 375 stores
Children's retailer Gymboree filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Sunday and will close more than 375 stores, according to Fortune. The retailer said it could close up to 450 of its 1,281 stores as the company reorganizes. LEARN MORE
4. Saks Fifth Avenue owner to cut 2,000 jobs in North America
The owner of Saks Fifth Avenue announced it will cut about 2,000 positions in the United States and Canada, as part of a restructuring effort. Hudson's Bay Company, a department store operator based out of Canada, said the decision would save the company approximately $259 million every year. 5. Gander Mountain in Huber Heights to close
Gander Mountain is closing several of its store locations, including one in Huber Heights. The company announced the store, located at 8001 Old Troy Pike in Huber Heights, will shut down. A closing date has not been announced. The sporting goods and outdoor retailer filed for bankruptcy in March, and was acquired by Camping World Holdings Inc. in April. READ MORE
