Wendy’s on Far Hills shuts down abruptly

The Wendy’s restaurant at 5901 Far Hills Ave. in Washington Twp. shut down abruptly before Thanksgiving.

A man who said he was the franchise owner of the restaurant declined to comment on any aspect of the closing this morning in a brief conversation at the restaurant site, where he was meeting with the property owner of the leased restaurant space this morning.

The man said he operates other Wendy’s franchise locations in the Dayton area but said he would not answer other questions. All Wendy’s signage had already been removed from the building by today.

Bob Bertini, spokesman for Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy’s, this afternoon confirmed the closing and said the restaurant had been open for about 16 years.

“Our understanding from the franchisee is that sales at the restaurant were not meeting expectations,” Bertini said.

No other Dayton-area Wendy’s locations are closing, Bertini said. The Wendy’s spokesman said he did not know how many employees were affected.
