It will be cops vs firefighters tonight, June 19, at Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, 6744 Miller Lane, Vandalia.
Members of Dayton IAFF Firefighting Union, local 136, will pull up to the table and square up against members of the Dayton Fraternal Order of Police, local 44, as part of Smokey Bone’s third annual Burger Battle.
There are 32 competitions tonight around the nation.
The battles help local charities with a portion of each event’s proceeds being donated to each team’s charity.
Locally, the firefighters and police are competing for their unions.
Each battle will have two teams of six compete in a timed relay eating contest. The teams that chow down specialty burgers the fastest win.
Those winning teams will compete to become National Burger Battle Champion. The three fastest teams will receive as much as $5,000 in additional donations for their charities.
Free samples of signature burgers, including one made with a special Amstel Light sauce, will be available at a pre-event tailgate party tonight at 7 p.m.
The Burger Battle will follow the party at 8 p.m.
