Wednesday, August 26 is National Dog Day, the perfect excuse to spend some quality time with your furry friend.

Here are 5 ways to celebrate today in the Dayton area:

1.       Go to a dog park

There’s nothing like spending a classic day in the park with your dog, especially at one made just for K 9’s.

Sit, Stay, and Play Dog Park also offers daycare and training services, and Creager Field Dog Park has two separate and fenced in sections for small and large dogs to enjoy.

2.       Go for a hike

Going for a hike is a healthy substitute for the daily walk, especially with temperatures starting to cool down for fall.

Parks like John Bryan State Park in Yellow Springs and Oakes Quarry Park in Fairborn are just two great choices.

3.       Get a new toy—or new Halloween costume

One great way to celebrate is by spoiling your furry friend. Stores like Petsmart and Petco already have their shelves stocked with new toys and costumes for the Halloween season.

4.       Get your dog groomed

Another way to spoil your pet is with a little pampering. Petsmart and Petco also both offer grooming and bathing services, with 25% off baths at Petsmart after 4pm. There's nothing like an evening soak!

5.       Adopt an addition

Don’t have dog to spend this special day with? Or do you think your pet family is ready for an addition?
