Springboro announces new superintendent

Dan Schroer, the former superintendent of the Greene County Career Center, became the new leader of the school district in Springboro in July.

The new superintendent, who plans to live nearby in German Twp. in Montgomery County, will be paid $140,000 a year under a three-year contract.

Max & Erma’s in Springboro closes

The Max & Erma’s restaurant at 710 Gardner Road off Springboro Pike in Springboro closed its doors for good in January.

El Toro Bar & Grill will open its 12th location in the region this week where Springboro's Max & Erma's used to be.

Springboro family donates $1.2 million to UD volleyball

Lori Hausfeld made a $1.2 million donation to the University of Dayton volleyball program six years after she lost her husband and daughter to a plane crash. Her daughter Kacie was a junior on the volleyball team at UD.

Kacie Hausfeld, 21, and her father Tom were killed April 1, 2010, when the plane he was piloting crashed at Dayton-Wright Brothers Airport just after takeoff.

The beginning of demolition of the former Springboro IGA building

A local icon, the Springboro IGA building at the center of the city for decades, was demolished in February.

The unveiling of Dayton Children’s new Springboro center
