After 3 days, Zombie Dogz says: ‘WE ARE MAJORLY, ACTIVELY HIRING!’

It's been three days since Zombie Dogz opened to long lines on Sunday, and business hasn't calmed down much, based on last night's post on the Zombie Dogz Facebook page, in which the restaurant's owners proclaimed, in all caps, "WE ARE MAJORLY, ACTIVELY HIRING!!!!!!!!"

“Everyone has been working extremely hard launching this new venture, but we didn’t dream we’d be this busy,” Zombie Dogz founders Dave and Lee VanArtsdalen said in the post.

“We are looking for and welcoming people with great customer service skills, friendly attitude.

“Positions available: back of the house with kitchen experience, dish washer, front of the house, cashiers. The dish washer and cashier people are 2 of the most important positions we need to fill. We will pay more for those positions for the mere fact that no one likes to really work those stations. We believe in investing in employees and start our people out higher than the average normal. We give bonuses when we can and also give you a birthday and Christmas bonus every year.

Please feel free to stop by any time and fill out an application with an open interview on the spot.”

The restaurant at 1200 Brown Street just north of Stewart Street near the University of Dayton main entrance is the first bricks-and-mortar location for what had become Dayton’s most acclaimed food truck.

Dave VanArtsdalen said on opening day that Zombie Dogz opened with 28 employees. The restaurant seats about 50 in its 2,000-square-foot space. Its hours are 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The food truck had developed a strong, loyal customer base — its Facebook page has more than 37,000 followers — and a reputation that extends beyond Dayton. Zombie Dogz was named “Best Food Truck in Ohio” in Ohio Magazine’s 2016 Best of Ohio Readers’ Ballot. And it finished second in Mobile Cuisine’s 2016 Hot Dog Vendor of the Year poll.
