The Times spoke to Oldstone-Moore for a story about whether men with facial hair are considered more desirable.
The article was based on a study from the University of Queensland in Australia that found women said men with some stubble were more attractive than clean-shaven men or men with full beards, according to The Times.

Oldstone-Moore told the paper that historical context has more to do with the popularity of beards than biology.
There’s a notion that beards signal maturity, confidence and reliability in men, Oldstone-Moore, said. As the concept of masculinity changes, “facial hairstyles change to suit,” he told The Times.
