Dayton man shot at by burglar fleeing his home

A Dayton man was shot at multiple times by a burglar who was fleeing his home, according to a police report.

At 3:25 a.m. Saturday, Dayton police were called to a home on the 1600 block of Howell St. in the MacFarlane neighborhood in West Dayton.

The 61-year-old homeowner told police he returned from a trip from Burger King to find a sport utility vehicle parked in front of his home, the report states.

The homeowner said he saw a man standing in his living room through a front window. The man climbed out of a window, pulled out a gun and fired about six shots at the resident, the report states.

The intruder then ran to his SUV and quickly sped away. The homeowner was not hit by gunfire, but a bullet struck the windshield of his car.

The homeowner told police his TV and video game consoles were missing.
