Akron woman accused of shooting, dismembering husband’s body

An Akron area woman is accused of shooting her husband multiple times and dismembering his body with power and hand tools, according to media reports.

Marcia Y. Eubank, 49, kept the victim’s body in the couple’s home after allegedly killing him earlier this year, and investigators found the remains Saturday.

Eubanks has been charged with murder and was to be arraigned Monday afternoon in Barberton Municipal Court in Summit County, according to the Akron Beacon Journal newspaper.

“We believe we have the tools that were used as well as the actual murder weapon,” said Summit County Sheriff Steve Barry, according to the Beacon Journal.

Sheriff officials told the newspaper they’ve tentatively identified the remains found in the home as that of Eubank’s husband, Howard L. Eubank, 54.

However, the medical examiner’s office is in the process of positively identifying the body.

“Due to the decomposition and condition of the body, this process will take additional time,” Gary Guenther, chief investigator for the medical examiner’s office, said in a news release.

The couple’s adult son who lives in the home tipped investigators off, and detectives found the deteriorating body when they searched the residence.

Investigators determined Howard Eubank was killed earlier this year in his home in a “domestic-related incident,” the Beacon Journal reported, adding that Marcia Eubanks was taken into custody without incident in the parking lot of a local store Saturday evening.

She was interviewed by sheriff’s detectives, charged with one count of murder and booked into the Summit County Jail.
