Alleged road rage incident involves baseball bat

A Dayton teen said she was punched in the face and her vehicle was damaged with a baseball bat during a road rage incident on Thursday that began on Germantown Street.

But her alleged attacker called police dispatchers and told them the teen hit her vehicle and did not stop.

At 9:25 p.m. Thursday, a 19-year-old Dayton resident said she was driving eastbound on Germantown Street when she drifted into the other lane near Stolz Avenue, a police report said.

The teen was talking on her cell phone while driving her grandmother's 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. A female driver allegedly pulled up to her, and they exchanged words.

The teen claims she did not hit the other vehicle, but the other driver continued to follow her and blocked her in after the teen pulled over.

The teen said the woman punched her in the face, and she took off in the hopes of avoiding further violence. As she left, the teen said she hit the other driver's car.

The teen called 911 and parked near Thurgood Marshall High School to wait for police.

But she said the other driver found her there and smashed out her driver's side window with a baseball bat.

The teen claimed she suffered a small cut from the broken window, and she may have swallowed some safety glass.

The other driver called police and told them that her vehicle was sideswiped, and the driver did not stop.

But police tried to make contact with the woman, but she did not answer her door or the phone.

Prosecutors were supposed to meet with the teen and her grandmother to discuss the incident.
