Area man accused of 20th drunk driving offense

LEBANON — A Wilmington man has been indicted on charges accusing him of drunk-driving, his 20th offense in his lifetime, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.

George R. Tribune, 57, was stopped July 21 in Warren County, according to the prosecutor.

Tribune registered twice the legal limit on his blood-alcohol test when he was pulled over, according to information included with a list of indictments released Monday. He was also cited for open container by a state trooper responding to a civilian call, according to authorities.

Tribune is charged with two counts of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, both third-degree felonies. He remained in the Warren County Jail on Monday.

Tribune could have faced a lifetime driver’s license suspension in his most recent conviction — a Clinton County case — according to Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell. Instead, Tribune was sentenced to a 10-year driver’s license suspension, and his license was reinstated after five years, in November 2014, Fornshell said.

“That’s totally absurd,” Fornshell said. “To find that anyone would even consider giving this guy his license back.”

In Warren County, prosecutors plan to call for a lifetime driver’s license suspension and a five-year prison term, Fornshell said.

“I think he should do even more time in prison,” the prosecutor said.
