The 16-year-old boy is accused of attempting to kill his mother’s live-in boyfriend, according to court documents.
The teen shot the victim with a rifle while he slept, causing a serious injury to the man’s right shoulder area, according to court documents. Attempted murder is a second-degree felony.
The youth is also charged with domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.
In the juvenile court system, a youth can either enter true or admit to the charges or deny the charges against them.
The incident was reported about 9:37 a.m. in the 3700-block of Wilson Farms Boulevard where the youth and victim resided.
During the hearing, Judge Joseph Kirby appointed Andrew Brenner to represent the youth.
Kirby ordered the youth to be held in the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center as well as undergo a risk assessment and mental health assessment. He also ordered the youth not to have any contact with the victim.

A 16-year-old Franklin Twp. boy will be arraigned on charges of attempted murder and domestic violence at 1:30 p.m. today in Warren County Juvenile Court.
The youth was arrested Thursday by Warren County Sheriff’s deputies in connection with a shooting in the 3700-block of Wilson Farms Boulevard earlier that day.
Deputies found the shooting victim who was transported to Atrium Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.
They youth was taken into custody and subsequently taken to the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center.
