5-year-old girl falls out 2-story window in Huber Heights

UPDATE @ 6:20 p.m.

Huber Heights police said it appears a 5-year-old girl who fell from her second-story bedroom window to the concrete driveway below managed to unlock the window and remove the screen.

Police said it’s under investigation how long the girl had been screaming after her fall before passersby and neighbors heard her screaming and the mother answered the door. The girl’s mother and stepfather were home at the time of the incident, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, but police noted that it’s still a parent’s responsibility to take steps to secure a window once a child learns how to unlock or open it.
